Run Time: 90 min.
Music, Poetry, Sex, and Ass: A Warhol Film Medley, a cinematic cornucopia of rare and unseen Warholia, unspools at Row House Cinema on Tuesday, May 21st at 7 pm. The evening opens with two early examples of off-screen sex films followed by Screen Tests of poets Ted Berrigan, Joe Brainard, and Ron Padgett accompanied by recollections newly recorded by Padgett in 2021.
More than eighty reels of film made up Warhol’s 1967 epic double screen, twenty-five-hour film **** (Four Stars). Reel 20 – “Nico Music” features the Velvet Underground’s chanteuse Nico singing songs from her first solo album Chelsea Girl accompanied by a reel-to-reel tape recording of John Cale and Lou Reed.
And lastly but not leastly, local musician / composer Ed Tarzia will add sonic bounce to the alabaster behind of ass clown extraordinaire Taylor Mead who is showcased in nine unused rolls from Warhol’s great unfinished comedy Taylor Mead’s Ass.
Join us for a medley of rarely screened films made by Pittsburgh’s own Andy Warhol!
