Cult-O-Rama: Beastly Beaches of Death!

Midnight weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnight)!

Run Time: 200 min.

Cult-O-Rama is kicking off Life’s a Beach week by bringing you two campy coastal classics! This is a safe space to experience the shores without getting sand in your swimsuit. Just don’t forget the cardinal rules: wear sunscreen, don’t go in the water right after eating, and be on the lookout for sharks and jellyfish-man hybrid monsters!

Mako: The Jaws of Death (1976) – Sonny Stein doesn’t think much of people, but he has a special affinity for Mako sharks. After a shaman gives him a special medallion, he finds himself able to communicate telepathically with his shark buddies – leading him to decide any fisherman that tries to hunt them should become their bait. If you were at Cult-O-Rama for Valentine’s Day this year, you [are probably single/in trouble with your partner, and] know that our host Cara has a special affinity for sharks and she is definitely willing to speak to any shaman before or after the show.

Sting of Death (1965) – Beach Blanket Bingo meets The Fly in this absolutely ridiculous low-budget schlockfest about an incel who turns himself into a half-human, half-jellyfish hybrid to get revenge on all the girls who didn’t love him when he was just a plain, ol’ deformed guy. Featuring the kind of special effects you would expect from a high school film class production – as well as beach party dance scenes randomly interspersed into the least believable carnage ever committed to celluloid – this one is best enjoyed with a crowd!

Cult movies rule at Row House Cinema! Join us for double features of some of the wildest, weirdest, and best cult films and B movies that you don’t often find the big screen one Friday night each month. There will be trivia, the big bag o’ crap, and whatever other fun surprises our host Cara dreams up!
