El Inmortal

Midnight weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnight)!

Director: Mercedes Moncada Rodríguez Run Time: 78 min. Format: Audio Amplification Available Release Year: 2005 Language: Spanish

The Immortal tells the story of the Rivera family,  torn apart by war in Nicaragua. Trapped in the crossfire between the Sandinistas and the Contras, the Contras seized the father, two teenage sons, and the teenage daughter. The mother managed to escape with the youngest son before the Contras burned their house. The family was separated until the end of the conflict. Their reunion confronted  the open wounds of the war, and all that continues to tear apart the fabric of Nicaraguan society.

MERCEDES MONCADA RODRÍGUEZ was born in 1972 in Seville (Spain), to Spanish and Nicaraguan parents. She has lived in Spain, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Mexico. After studying sociology she worked as  a producer for advertising, documentary, and feature films. In 2003, she made her first full-length documentary film, La pasión de María Elena. El Inmortal is her second film.
