In September 1926, a silent movie house opened on Potomac Avenue. In the century that followed, it saw many owners, renovations, and technological advances, but it has always remained one thing—a movie theater.

Celebrate 100 years of cinema in Dormont with us this September, culminating in a Community Day on Potomac Avenue on September 26 and a 1920s-style centennial celebration featuring the film The General.

The Hollywood’s 100th Anniversary Celebration

Join us for a 1920s style night at the movies to celebrate 100 years of cinema at Row House – Hollywood. Our theater opened in September of 1926 on Potomac Avenue. We don’t know the exact film that was shown that night, but we’ve chosen some 1920s clips and Buster Keaton’s infamous silent comedy The General, which premiered that year!

Come dressed in 1920s style and enjoy a feathery 1920s burlesque show and other vaudeville acts before the film. Each ticket comes with one complimentary drink to celebrate! We’ll also be hosting an open community day with more vaudeville acts on the street from 5-6:30 pm and unveiling our new history wall with pieces of Dormont’s past.
