Our Story
To put it simply, Row House Cinema is a fantastic night out. Our mission is to show create a magical experience through awesome movies, food, & beverages. Through our unique programming, we hope to help build a stronger film community in Pittsburgh.
Row House opened in June of 2014 with a special screening of Pulp Fiction, and has since show more than 250 new, old, popular, weird, amazing, and obscure movies per year on our single screen. Every week we choose a theme and show movies to match that theme, which can range from Akira Kurosawa, Introduction to French New Wave Cinema, or Tight Pants Week — a celebration of films where the lead male actor wears iconically tight pants.
Our first theater is an 84-seat single screen theater in a historic loft building in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.
We added a second cinema in 2023, located in the heart of Dormont’s business district, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Row House – Hollywood was built in 1926 specifically as a movie theater, and is now a 350 seat single screen cinema.
We serve locally made concessions (including our famous all-natural popcorn) and we have a massive and unique selection of beer available in our adjoining bottle shop Bierport.
Throughout the year we host Brew & Views (screenings with themed beers served at key points in the movie), Cereal Cinemas (morning movies with an all you can eat cereal bars), lectures, major film festivals, and more!
We also are home to an active film club that is 600+ movie lovers strong!
