September is always millennial cult month for Cult-O-Rama, and this year we’re bringing you two movies that feature a different kind of Y2K bug: the mutant and aggressive insect/arachnid kind! The second movie is a secret, but if you were around for an intermission earlier this year, you may have heard us spill the beans.

Eight Legged Freaks (2002) –

Pollution sucks for all of us, but the tiny mining town of Prosperity, AZ sees gargantuan (and tarantulan) consequences when a local spider farmer feeds oil-tinged crickets to his creepy crawly stock, causing the arachnids to mutate into… EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS! David Arquette camps it up as Chris, the heir to the mines who returns home just in time to help combat the mutant spiders. Also tangled up in this big-ass web: Scarlett Johansson, Doug E. Doug, and Tom Noonan! This is a movie made for Cult-O-Rama; and don’t worry, the spiders on the screen can’t get you.
